HIV awareness

Advertising
In 2007 HIV infection figures began to grow in Edinburgh. A working group formed from a number of charities and the government commissioned this work to raise awareness of the resurgence of the disease.
The posters were purposefully designed to reference marketing from the music industry, in an attempt to avoid the authoritarian messaging usually associated with the subject.
The audience accepted and responded to the work extremely positively, in many cases posters were stolen and copies requested from the public.
Music events and clubnights were created to further educate and inform the gay community.
A flash website was built in the style of a staged concert to further inform about the HIV Comeback Tour.
The second phase of work was designed to encourage gay men to get over their embarrassment about discussing their HIV status and to use condoms. This campaign used the association of embarrassing musical tastes to make that point.
